The kids are doing great in school. The first two weeks they took their lunch to school and were so excited to do so then watching their classmates go through the lunch line and come back with trays of food the idea got into their head that they wanted to buy lunch. It works out pretty well for me and the kids are developing more independence.
School lunch seems to have changed a lot since I was a kid. When I was a kid lunch was one thing ergo I had no choice I ate what the school made and that was it. Where as my kindergartners have a menu of options. They can pick one of two main courses and then two sides of five choices then milk, chocolate milk, or water.
I know my kids and I know how difficult it can be to motivate them to make a choice when provided options and all I have to say is that lunch ladies must have the patience of a saint.
